Client issue: Profit Analytics is free — your bid ceiling is not
Amazon publikuje komunikaty Seller Central i Ads po angielsku. Brief poniżej zostaje po angielsku, by nie zgubić źródła. Przegląd, formularze i polityki są w Twoim języku. Potwierdź liczby w Seller Central.
Who it hits
Founders and operators who argue about ACOS while contribution is unknown. Anyone raising max CPC from last month’s ACOS alone.
What to do this week
Open Growth → Profit Analytics (or the live path in your account). Map net proceeds on every advertised hero. Cap bids where contribution after fees and ads is already thin. Confirm what the dashboard excludes.
The client complaint this answers
“ACOS is 28% — why is cash worse?” Because ACOS is ad spend ÷ attributed sales. Contribution is what is left after referral, FBA (plus surcharges and peak when they apply), returns, and the ads you already bought. Profit Analytics is where that fight belongs. If COGS is blank, the profit line is fiction — fill manufacturing cost before you trust it.
| Use it for | Do not use it for |
|---|---|
| Which advertised heroes still clear contribution after fees | A daily “did we win today?” P&L — data can lag 1–2 days; some fees longer |
| Spotting fee lines that moved while ACOS looked stable | A guarantee that ads will hit a target ACOS |
| Pairing with Fee Preview before a bid raise | Replacing the weekly search-term harvest |
PPC implication
Set the bid ceiling from contribution, not from “category ACOS.” If Profit Analytics shows thin or negative net on a hero, cut ranking exact before you add discovery. Brand defense can stay if the offer is still yours and still converts. Paste Amazon’s average fee narrative ($0.08 / unit style) into a bid sheet only after Fee Preview shows your FNSKU.
This week
- Seller Central → Growth → Profit Analytics (confirm live menu). Filter to advertised ASINs.
- Enter or refresh COGS / landed cost on heroes. Empty cost fields make “profit” look better than cash.
- Pull Fee Preview on the same FNSKUs. Note fuel surcharge and any peak rates if they already show.
- Write one contribution floor per hero in the weekly log. Cap max CPC where the floor is already breached.
- Pair with recalculate break-even after fees and Custom Analytics for traffic vs conversion.
Confirm live: path, latency, and which fees are excluded (subscription / some service fees often sit outside). Amazon decides the dashboard. This desk does not invent your COGS.
FAQ
Does Profit Analytics replace Sellerboard?
No. It is Amazon’s native view. Many desks still reconcile an external P&L. Use both if you already have a second source of truth — do not run two conflicting bid ceilings.
Can I ignore this if ACOS is on target?
Only if contribution is also on target. ACOS on target with fees up is how catalogs go cash-negative while the ads report looks clean.
Is this an EU tool too?
This brief follows the US fee letter. Open Seller Central on each store and confirm whether Profit Analytics exists there before you copy a US SOP.
