US FBA inbounds, especially catalogs that used Amazon labeling or mixed carton contents.
What to do this week
Read the defect fee on the last three shipments. Pause ads on ASINs whose next inbound is already flagged.
Operator sequence
- Inventory → shipments. Filter problem shipments from the last 60 days.
- Write the defect total next to the units received. That is a cost per available unit.
- If received is far below shipped, run the discrepancy SOP inside the window. Do not wait for Q4.
- Do not raise event bids on an ASIN whose inbound is in “problem” status. See prep ended.

FAQ
Is a defect fee the same as a placement fee?
No. Placement is the cost of sending inventory to fewer fulfillment centers. Defects are mistakes in how the carton or unit was prepared. Both hit contribution. They are different lines.
